ASYRAF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING REPORT: PREPARING A NETWORK(LAN) FOR STUDENT REGISTRATION DAY

There are more networking task that i get here . Most of that task is focused on provide a network using cable and troubleshoot network in the laboratory. But get some task that must prepared and installing network equipment in empty room . This task is usually be done in some of the big program like student registration day.

Student registration day is one of the most important program in this collage. It is because on that day new student and their senior will register to enter the new semester. So my task is provide a network in seminar 2 room , the place where the student will register.

Before prepare a network , that place must install a computer and other equipment first (refer http://thiisasyrafjun17.blogspot.my/p/technical-support.html for detail).

Picture above show the sketch of networking plan in the room. So i must prepare the tools and networking equipment to install this network. Below is the equipment or hardware that used in this task:

1.Ethernet cable

Ethernet cable or networking cable are networking hardware that used to connect one network device to another network device or to connect other device that provide or needs network. In this case this cable are used to connect the switch from Ethernet plate that provide internet rates. after connect to the switch the switch will distribute this network to another 10 computer(5 PC & 5 laptop) that needs internet using this cable. So 11 loops of cable are required in this task.

2.Networking switch

A network switch (also called switching hub, bridging hub, officially MAC bridge) is a computer networking device that connects devices together on a computer network by using packet switching to receive, process, and forward data to the destination device. In this task this switch are function in receive packet from main Ethernet plate , process and forward that packet to another 10 computer that needs internet.

3.Floor trunking

This floor trunking are function in avoid the Ethernet cable from trampled and violated by people. From use this trunking we will ensure the internet services will run smoothly and uninterruptible.

Step by step installation

Step 1: Prepare all the equipment and make sure the material that prepared is enough and can work usually.

Step 2: Plug in the switch to the electrical port to provide the power of that switch.

Step 3: connect the Ethernet plate to the switch using the Ethernet cable.

Step 4: Take 10 cable, plugin it into the switch and connect it to every computer and laptop.

Step 5: Switch on the power of networking switch and check whether the computer receive or not the connection that provided by that switch.

Step 6: After finished checking the connection, insert all the cable on the floor into the trunking and neat it.
